Lady Wolves roll past East Central with strong second half

WESSON – The Lady Wolves put on a shooting clinic Monday night as Co-Lin coasted past East Central 87-71. The MACJC South Division victory moves the Lady Wolves to 16-3 on the year and 9-2 in the division. Co-Lin faces rival Southwest Thursday, Feb. 16 as the Lady Wolves travel to Summit. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Listen to the action live at or WMJU 104.3 FM.

“I’d have to say we shot the ball pretty well,” said coach Gwyn Young. “In the third quarter we ran our offense really well…we executed and made shots.”

No. 17 Co-Lin defeats defending NJCAA D3 national champions

MERIDIAN – The Copiah-Lincoln Community College Wolves’ tennis team defeated Oxford Emory to open their 2017 season over the weekend. The decisive 7-2 win has set a great tone for the No. 17 Wolves heading into MACJC play Wednesday, Feb. 15 as East Central travels to Wesson.

“I couldn’t be more proud of our guys today,” said first year head coach Blake Smith. “Going into the first match there is always some uncertainty, but I thought the guys came out and played with high intensity."

Thomas, Hobgood lead Lady Wolves in sweep of Hinds

RAYMOND – Freshman Alexsundria Thomas went 5-for-6 and sophomore Dianna Hobgood hit a grand slam to lead the Co-Lin Lady Wolves to a doubleheader sweep over the Hinds Lady Eagles. Co-Lin (2-2) took game one 8-3 and won the nightcap 15-7.

“Glad to get a road sweep,” said Lady Wolves Head Coach Allen Kent.  “Our pitchers did a really good job both games. Christian (Black) gave up three unearned runs in game one.”  Elizabeth (Smith) gave us three good innings, as did Bailey (Root) to finish the nightcap. We gave up one earned run in game two.  Defensively we extended some innings, we must do a better job of making the routine plays.”
