Lady Wolves win second straight 67-53 over Hinds

UTICA – The Co-Lin Lady Wolves won their second straight South Division game defeating the Hinds Lady Bulldogs 67-53 in Utica last night. Co-Lin returns to Mullen Gymnasium on Monday night when they host Pearl River. Tip off for the women’s game is at 6 p.m. followed by the men’s game. Watch live at or listen on WMJU 104.3 FM in Brookhaven. The Lady Wolves (9-6, 2-4) jumped out to a 23-4 lead with 9:41 left in the first half. They took a 38-24 lead into the locker room at the half. A 3-pointer by Rajee McDonald with 8:34 left in the game pulled Hinds to 51-43, but that’s as close as the Lady Bulldogs would get.

Gibson, Collins lead Lady Wolves over East Central

DECATUR – The Co-Lin Lady Wolves had five players in double figures on their way to their first South Division win of the year, a 82-73 win over the East Central Lady Warriors. Lady Wolves improve to 8-6, 1-4 in the South Division. The Lady Warriors fall to 7-6, 2-3 in the division. Freshman Tyra Gibson blocked a shot, made a steal and a layup with 2:34 left to tie the game at 71-all. Claresa Banks hit a huge trey to give the Lady Wolves a 76-72 lead with 1:12 remaining. The Lady Wolves went 4-for-5 in the final minute to put the game away and get the win.

Meridian holds off Co-Lin's late rally

MERIDIAN - Powered by double digit scoring from four starters, the Meridian Lady Eagles held off the Co-Lin Lady Wolves, 76-66, in basketball action Thursday night. The Lady Eagles (11-2, 3-1) scored the first two points of the game, fittingly, on a basket from Kristen Sampson. Sampson would finish with a game high 22 points. The Lady Wolves (7-6, 0-4) would be done in by a lack of offensive production and an abundance of turnovers. Co-Lin only had one starter score in double figures, MACJC Player of the Week Claresa Banks with 21 points.
