Banks named MACJC Player of the Week

WESSON – Lady Wolves freshman guard Claresa Banks has been named MACJC Player of the Week for all games played Jan. 6-12. For the week Banks averaged 19 points and 11 rebounds per game in leading the Lady Wolves to a 2-0 record. The Jackson native scored 19 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in Co-Lin’s 63-51 victory over Baton Rouge Community College. Banks, a product of Forest Hill High School, grabbed a season high six offensive rebounds as the Lady Wolves avenged a loss to Baton Rouge in early Nov.  She also dished out three assists, made three steals, and blocked two shots versus Baton Rouge.

Lady Wolves rally falls short

WESSON - A chaotic comeback from being down 18 points with 10 minutes remaining would fall short on Monday night in Mullen Gymnasium as the Copiah-Lincoln Lady Wolves (7-5, 0-3) dropped their rivalry game, 75-72, to the Southwest Lady Bears (11-1, 3-0). A free throw by Lady Bear Katrina Littlepage with 10:07 remaining in the game gave Southwest a 58-40 lead, their biggest of the night, Littlepage led all scorers with 26 points. A 20-9 run by Co-Lin over the next eight minutes would slice the lead down to 67-60 with two minutes remaining on the clock. The Lady Wolves would get no closer than within three points and the Lady Bears would hit their late-game free throws to preserve the win.

Lady Wolves win third straight, defeat Itawamba 58-45

FULTON - The Co-Lin Lady Wolves won their third straight game defeating the Itawamba Lady Indians 58-45 in a non-conference game on Thursday night. The Lady Wolves (7-4, 0-2) will resume South Division play on Monday when they host the Southwest Lady Bears (9-1) in Mullen Gym at 6 p.m. The Lady Wolves avenged a 62-56 season ending loss to the Lady Indians in last year's NJCAA Region 23 Tournament. Freshman guard Tyra Gibson hit two free throws with no time left on the clock to pull the Lady Wolves to within one point 24-23 of the Lady Indians at halftime.
