Dennis Sims enters his 14th year as men’s basketball coach at Copiah-Lincoln. Sims serves as an instructor in the health and physical education division.

During the 2008-2009 season his Wolves finished with a 15-14 record. The Wolves made the MACJC State Tournament Finals for the fourth time in the last five years. Sims has been named MACJC and Mississippi Association of Coaches Coach of the Year in 1989, 1997, 1999, 2000, and 2005.  Sims’s teams have won three consecutive South State Tournament Championships from 1998 through 2001, which was the last year it was held.  His 1998-1999 team captured the MACJC State Championship.

A native of West Memphis, Arkansas, Sims spent 12 years at Southwest Mississippi Community College in Summit. He guided Southwest to the South State championship in 1989. He also coached 11 years on the high school level, where he won two state and two overall state titles.  Sims earned a bachelor of science degree in physical education from the University of Mississippi, and received his master’s degree in education from William Carey College.

Sims has four children, Law, Casey, Mary Kathryn, and Mollie

Cliff Furr

Assistant basketball coach Cliff Furr begins his second year with the Co-Lin men’s and women’s basketball program. He also serves as an instructor in the college’s humanities division.

A graduate of Brookhaven Academy and Copiah-Lincoln Community College, Furr received his bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in coaching and sports administration from the University of Southern Mississippi. He received his master’s degree from William Carey University in 2008.

Furr spent two years at Brookhaven High School as an assistant to head basketball coach Ronald Hines. He also taught junior and senior level English classes.

Furr and his wife, the former Angela Davis of Monticello, are the parents of a daughter, Amelia. The Furrs reside in Brookhaven and are members of Heucks Retreat Baptist Church.
