COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Copiah-Lincoln Communtiy College defensive back Dequan Menzie of Columbus, Ga., has been named National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Second Team All-American.The NJCAA made the announcement today.
Menzie, a Carver High School product, was a 2-year defensive starter for the Wolfpack. Menzie had 51 tackles (36 solo, 15 assists) and 1 interception this season. A versatile athlete, Menzie returned punts and returned a fake punt for a touchdown this season.
He was also selected NJCAA All-Region 23, Mississippi Community and Junior College (MACJC) Most Valuable Defensive Back and MACJC First Team All-State.
Menzie is being recruited by several NCAA Division I schools.
The Wolfpack finished the 2009 season with a 6-3 overall record, 4-2 in the South Division.
