A USPTR-certified tennis teaching professional, Mike McIntyre has coached the Wolves for 30 seasons and accumulated a career dual match record of 404-86. He has been named MAC Coach of the Year three times, MACJC Coach of the Year five times, while watching his Wolves win five state championships, four Region XXIII titles, 10 state/regional runners-up titles, 74 state/regional individual championships, and qualified for 11 national tournaments, and 12 teams have been nationally ranked. His 1990 undefeated team (24-0) was the first Mississippi team to ever finish in the Top 10 in the NJCAA Nationals.
His 2002, 2005, 2007, and 2008 teams were the national No. 1 NJCAA Academic Team of the Year. The 2003, 2004 and 2006 teams finished No. 2.
He received the MACJC Leadership and Service Award for association and community contributions 1984-1990. He was inducted into Copiah-Lincoln’s 2000 Athletic Hall of Fame for football, track and tennis.
McIntyre has participated in the last 11 USTA National Tennis Teachers Conferences held in conjunction with the U. S. Open Tennis Tournament in New York City. He served as president of the MACJC Tennis Coaches Association from 1984-1990 and was a member of the NJCAA Region 23 executive board from 1985-1997 serving as chairman from 1985-1991. In addition, McIntyre has held membership in the USPTR (United States Professional Tennis Registry), the ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) and the USTA.
McIntyre and his wife Diane are the parents of one son, Mike, Jr.
