April 26, 2017

RAYMOND – The Copiah-Lincoln Community College Wolves moved to 17-22 on the season Tuesday night, as the team split a two game series with the Hinds Eagles. The split gives the Wolves an 11-11 record in the MACJC. Hinds moved to 26-12 overall on the year and 15-7 in league play. The Wolves travel to Itawamba Community College on Saturday, April 29 to take on the Indians.

Hinds 11, Co-Lin 0

Hinds had hot bats in game one as the Eagles plated 11 runs on 12 hits, while the Wolves collected only two. The Eagles took the lead in the bottom of the third with a two-run homer, and never looked back.

The Eagles had another big inning in the bottom of the fifth as the team pushed across six more runs, and hit another homerun. Game one ended after seven innings of play due to the 10-run rule.

CJ Estave recorded the Wolves only hits in the contest.

Hinds was led by Jackson Mitchell, Will Craft, and Staton Todd who collected multiple hits. Craft finished the game with a team high three RBIs.

Ethan Daily earned the win for Hind. He tossed three innings, allowing zero runs, two hits, and striking out three. Jordan Bowden took the loss on the hill for the Wolves. He threw three innings, giving up three runs, five hits, and striking out one.

Co-Lin 7, Hinds 4

The Wolves quickly overcame the game one loss as the team pulled out 10 hits and did not commit any errors in game two.

Co-Lin came out firing in the second inning and plated six runs to take an early lead. Matthew Mordecai started the scoring rally with a single that scored Austin O’Flynn who reached on a single. An error and a sac bunt from Conner Wilkinson brought two more runs in for the Wolves, giving Co-Lin a 3-0 lead.

Tyler McLeod smashed a two-run homer to left later in the inning to stretch the Wolves lead to 5-0. Estave followed McLeod with a solo shot of his own to close out the explosive inning.

Hinds scratched three more runs across late in the game, but the effort fell short as the Wolves escaped the road series with a victory.

Mordecai, McLeod, Estave, and Kody Smith all collected two hits each for the Wolves, while O’Flynn, and Kyle Whittington added one.

Ryley Balch posted three hits for the Eagles, and Kyle Schimpf added another two to lead Hinds.
