Five Diamond Wolves earn post-season honors

WESSON – The Copiah-Lincoln Community College Wolves had five players land post-season honors after a 20-27 season that ended with the schools first trip to the playoffs since 2005.  

Freshman outfielder Jaylyn Williams was named MACJC All-State after a breakout season at the plate. Williams, a Greenville Christian High School graduate, led the Wolves with a .384 batting average, eight homeruns, and 43 RBIs. Williams finished the year with a team high .531 on base percentage and a .644 slugging percentage.

Sophomore J.T. Wright earned MACJC 2nd Team All-State recognition after batting .324 on the year. The Northeast Jones High School graduate drove in 28 runs on the year and posted two homeruns. Wright had a .371 on base percentage and a .476 slugging percentage. Wright recently committed to play at William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Miss.

Christian Day, a freshman pitcher from Natchez, Miss. earned MACJC 2nd Team All-State after leading Co-Lin with a 5-4 record with 61.1 innings pitched. Day, a Jefferson County graduate, had a 6.31 ERA and a team high 63 strikeouts on the season. Day gave up 67 hits on the year.

Freshman Zach James also landed 2nd Team All-State with a 2-2 record. The Germantown High School graduate threw 49.1 innings for the Wolves and had 39 strikeouts. James had a 5.47 ERA and gave up 61 hits on the season.

Blake Sigrest, a freshman from Hammond, La. rounded out Co-Lin’s post-season honorees with 2nd Team All-State recognition. Sigrest saw 36.2 innings on the hill for the Wolves. He posted a 4.42 ERA and a 4-6 record. Sigrest posted 26 strikeouts on the season and gave up 44 hits.
