Wolves travel to Perk to take on Bulldogs

WESSON, Miss. – The Copiah-Lincoln Community College Wolves look to remain unbeaten in MACJC South Division play this Thursday as the Wolves travel to Perkinston to take on the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Bulldogs at 7 p.m. The matchup is the 85th meeting between the two teams dating back to 1928. Co-Lin (2-2, 1-0) enters the game off a difficult 23-14 home loss to No. 5 Northwest. The then-ranked No. 12 Bulldogs also fell a week ago, 16-13, at the hands of Jones College. The loss moved Gulf Coast to 3-1, 0-1. Co-Lin struggled with the run game last week, totaling just 22 yards on the ground, which in turn, slightly hurt the Wolves' passing attack. Co-Lin will have to bounce back offensively Thursday, going up against the Bulldog's defense that gives up just 249.5 yards per game. Look for the Wolves to lean on sophomore leadership from Rico Owens and Deion Dampier in the ground game and quarterback Hayden Davis in the passing game. Despite some troubles last week, the Wolves showed that they are capable of producing big plays at any moment, including two beautiful touchdowns from Davis to Malik Heath, and two big pass plays to DeMartre Collins and Kundarrius Taylor that went for 62 and 48-yards respectively. Pair this explosive passing game, with the talent of Owens, Dampier, and a strong offensive line and the Wolves can have a lethal offense that the fans and coaching staff know Co-Lin is capable of.

Defensively, Co-Lin gave up 300 yards a week ago to one of the nations best offenses. The Wolves held the Rangers to just 164 yards in the air despite Northwest averaging 310.6 passing yards per game when they entered the contest. The Wolves are fifth in the state in yards allowed per game with just 277.3, and third in the league in points allowed per game with 14.8. Co-Lin is led by Swayze Bozeman who has 39 tackles on the year, the most in the MACJC. The Wolves also had notable performances from Tyrus Wheat, RJ Jarrett, Edwin Whitlock, Jakaiszer Glass, and Kobe Wren last week.

Lowell Narcisse and Chance Lovertich lead Gulf Coast at the quarterback position. Narcisse has 472 yards on the year, while Lovertich as 339. Terrion Avery and Austin Bolton lead the Bulldogs on the ground with 358 and 211 yards respectively. Nick Brown is Gulf Coast's leading receiver with 15 receptions for 231 yards. Defensively Darius Townsend leads the Bulldogs with 34 tackles.
