PERKINSTON – The host Mississippi Gulf Coast Bulldogs came into the game with a 0-2 record, but that didn’t stop them from upsetting the No. 3 ranked Copiah-Lincoln Community College Wolfpack 21-7 in the first South Division game of the season. Turnovers and intense pressure from the Bulldog’s defensive front forced two fumbles and two interceptions.

“We’re a young football team,” said Co-Lin head coach Glenn Davis. “We have to protect the ball better and just play better offensively.”

The Wolfpack (1-2, 0-1) hosts Jones County Junior College (3-0, 1-0) on University of Southern Mississippi Night Thursday, Sept. 22. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.

Co-Lin to forfeit first game

September 14, 2016

WESSON - Copiah-Lincoln Community College’s football program has been sanctioned by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) to forfeit the week one 44-0 win against Mississippi Delta. The forfeiture is due to an ineligible player who participated in the game. The issue has since been resolved.

“We deeply regret this occurred, but took the appropriate action by self-reporting the error to the NJCAA immediately after it was discovered,” said a spokesman for the Co-Lin Athletic Department. “It is an unfortunate error and we fully accept the action that NJCAA has taken.”

The forfeit moves the No. 3 ranked Wolves’ record to 1-1 on the year as the team travels to Mississippi Gulf Coast to take on the Bulldogs Thursday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m.
