RAYMOND – The Wolves of Copiah-Lincoln Community College can fully focus on the spring season after closing out fall practice with a 7-2 victory over Hinds Community College Tuesday afternoon. Sebastian Osorio played in the No. 1 position for the Wolves and picked up a 7-5, 6-1 win over Daniel Yepez who was a state semifinalist last season. At No. 2 singles, Juan Pablo Pinilla grabbed another win for Co-Lin as he defeated Matthew Burks handily 6-1, 6-1. Hayes Thompson fell to Hinds’ Chris Crapps in the No. 3 singles spot in a close 5-7, 6-4, 11-9 match. Tripp Case earned yet another singles win for the Wolves in the No. 4 position with a victory over Ryan Wheeless 6-1, 6-1. Sophomore Cory Alderman also won his singles match, with a 6-1, 6-1 win in the No. 5 slot. Sebastian Harrell rounded out Co-Lin’s singles action with a thrilling 7-6, 7-6 victory over Hinds’ Victor Villarreal.
In doubles play Osorio and Pinilla teamed up at No. 1 and won 8-5. Case and Allderman paired up at the No. 2 spot and grabbed a 8-3 win, while Thompson and Harrell fell 6-8 at the No. 3 position.
“Tripp Case and Cory Alderman played some great tennis today,” said head coach Blake Smith. “Sebastian Harrell played a great match to the night with two thrilling tiebreakers…it was just a great day for tennis.”
