CLINTON, Miss. – The Copiah-Lincoln Community College Lady Wolves' season came to an end Friday night with a 98-74 loss to No. 5 JCJC. Co-Lin finished the 2017-2018 season 24-5 and were runners-up in both the MACJC State Tournament and Region XXIII.
It was all JCJC Friday night as the Lady Bobcats jumped out to an early nine-point, 17-8, lead with 3:15 remaining in the first quarter. The Lady Wolves cut that lead down to six on two occasions but a 17-2 Jones County run stretched the lead to 21, 38-17, midway through the second quarter. The Lady Bobcats took a 49-31 lead into intermission.
Jones County continue to grow their lead throughout the second half as Alexis Tolefree continued to hit three-pointers.
One bright spot for the Lady Wolves was back-to-back three's from sophomores Kyeonia Harris and Alexus Holt. Holt also made a layup on the brief 8-0 Co-Lin run. The quick scoring cut the Lady Bobcats' lead 18, 67-49, with 2:26 remaining in the third quarter.
Jones hung on to the lead throughout the fourth and secured the 98-74 win.
Holt led the Lady Wolves with 22 points, while Karry Callahan scored 21 and led Co-Lin with eight rebounds and three blocks. Both Callahan and Holt landed Region XXIII All-Tournament Team honors. Harris and T'Kyra Hicks both scored nine for Co-Lin and led the Lady Wolves with four assists each. Harris also had a team-high four steals.
Tolefree led JCJC with a staggering 50 points after going 12-for-22 from three-point range. Chrystal Ezechukwu posted a double-double for the Lady Bobcats with 15 points and 16 rebounds, while Nique Cherry went for 10 points and eight boards.
Co-Lin shot 38 percent (25-for-66) from the field, 25 percent (4-for-16) from the three-point line, and 91 percent (20-for-22) from the foul stripe. The Lady Bobcats finished the night shooting 44 percent (34-for-77) from the field, 43 percent (13-for-30) from beyond the arc, and 77 percent (9-for-13) from the free throw line.
