Three Wolves Earn All-Conference Honors

JACKSON – The Mississippi Association of Community College Conference (MACCC) recently announced the All-MACCC baseball honors and the Wolves had three members earn spots on the lists. Coby Gollott (Ocean Springs) and Tucker Jones (Brandon) earned All-MACCC Second team honors while Connor Pittman (Waynesboro) was named All-MACCC Honorable Mention.

Coby Gollott had a superb sophomore season while leading the Wolves in innings pitched 83.2 which was third most in the MACCC. The Mississippi College signee compiled a 6-6 overall record with three saves, fifth-most in the MACCC, and five complete games. He had a 3.87 earned run average, a 1.28 whip, and strikeout per nine innings pitched rate of 9.79. Gollott allowed 46 runs on the season with 36 of those earned on 82 hits with 25 walks and had 91 strikeouts. The 91 strikeouts were the second-most on the Wolves staff and a Top-10 mark in the conference.

Tucker Jones had a fantastic freshman season where he led the Wolves in batting average at .392, a mark that was eighth in the MACCC. He also led the team in hits, triples, and runs scored with 65, four, and 42 respectively while being second on the team in doubles and home runs with seven and two. Jones also had the third-most RBIs with 28 while posting a .458 on-base percentage and a .518 slugging percentage. As the primary centerfielder for the Wolves, he had a .988 fielding percentage with just one error on 85 total defensive chances making 83 putouts with one assist.

Connor Pittman had a stellar sophomore season while being second on the team in innings pitched at 78 which was fifth-most in the MACCC. The Memphis University signee compiled an 8-5 overall record, the eight wins were tied for fourth-most in the MACCC, with four complete games. Pittman had a 3.81 era, 1.35 whip, and a strikeout per nine innings pitched rate of 11.31. He allowed 43 runs on the season with 33 earned on 68 hits with 37 walks and had 98 strikeouts. The 98 strikeouts led the team and was also a Top-10 mark within the MACCC.

Gollott and Pittman are the first two pitchers to eclipse the 90+ strikeout mark since Christian Day did in 2018 and they are the first duo ever in program history to accomplish that feat in the same season.

The Wolves finished the season 27-27 overall, 15-13 in conference play. The 27 wins is the most in a single season since 2008 while the 15 conference wins is the most since the 2021 season while the Wolves qualified for postseason play this season for the first time since the 2021 season.
