Fort Earns Conference Honor For Second Time
JACKSON – The Co-Lin Men's Basketball team once again has a member that has earned the MACCC Men's Basketball Player of the Week honor. Sophomore guard Lerenzo Fort III from Jackson earned the honor for the second time this season as announced on Tuesday, February 8.
Trey had one of his best weeks as a member of the Wolves averaging a double-double of 31 points per game and 10 rebounds per game over two contests. In a road win against East Central, Fort had a double-double of 22 points and 13 rebounds as both marks were shared game highs. Trey followed that performance up with a season and Wolves career high 40 points against Hinds along with seven rebounds.
"Trey has developed into a high major player," said Co-Lin head coach David Sanders. "He carries us every night against the other team's top defenders and still is able to play efficiently and effectively. Four-year school in this state should be all over him in recruiting."
Fort leads the MACCC in points per game at 27.7 and that mark also has him sitting at second in the NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball individual rankings. Fort and the rest of the Wolves will be back in action playing host to Meridian on Thursday, February 10. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
