Wolves Falter Against Rangers

WESSON – The Co-Lin Men's Basketball team hosted MACCC foe Northwest on Saturday, February 21. The Rangers beat the Wolves, 105-87.

The Wolves got off to a sluggish start to the game as the Rangers opened the first half with a 14-5 scoring run to take a lead by that margin with 16:22 left on the clock. The Rangers then went on an 18-17 run to push their lead to 32-22 with 9:27 remaining. The Wolves responded with a 19-13 scoring run cutting the lead down to 45-41 with 3:53 left to play in the first half. The Rangers responded with a 13-7 scoring run to push their lead to 58-48 as the teams entered the locker rooms for halftime.

The Rangers opened the second half with a 13-10 scoring run pushing their lead over the Wolves to 71-58 with 15:06 left to play. The Rangers then used a 16-14 scoring run increasing their lead to 87-72 with 8:46 remaining. The Wolves continued to try and fight their way back into the game, but the Rangers closed it out with an 18-15 scoring to seal the 105-87 win.

Tyrell Bowles (Springdale, MD) led the way for the Wolves with a career-high 28 points and had a double-double performance by adding 14 rebounds while Koie Williams flirted with a triple-double performance with 11 points, eight rebounds, and six assists with LeBron Deal adding 11 points with four rebounds, two assists, and one steal.

Morris Hammond (Ridgeland), Dylan Creggett (DeSoto, TX) and Stevent Watkins (Ridgeland) had nine points apiece while Moustapha Salekh (Ngekoh, Senegal) and Caleb Crozier (Yazoo City) had four points each with Tristian Lucas (Pearl) adding two points to round out the scoring for the Wolves.

Co-Lin is now 13-11 overall, 6-5 in MACCC play, and will return to action on the road to face off against Hinds on Monday, February 23. Tip-off between the Wolves and the Bulldogs is set for 7:30 p.m. at J.D. Boyd Gym in Utica.
