Co-Lin Golf Excited About Upcoming Season
The 2024-25 season saw the Co-Lin Golf team come up just short of qualifying for the NJCAA District D tournament ending the season early for the Wolves. Head coach Allen Kent says despite how last season ended; he is excited about the upcoming season and the potential for this year's team can be despite a lot of unknowns.
"This is the first time ever that we have had a match the week after classes start, so we won't have many practice rounds under our belts, but this group still has great potential," stated Kent. "We have three returning sophomores in Max Seidemann (Bruchhausen-Vilsen, Germany), Kolby Cox (Meadville), and Owen Siegfried (Brandon) that all bring back experience for us."
"Max played in most of the tournaments last season while Owen and Kolby played throughout the season, but Kolby was consistently there for us in the spring once he got healthy," added Kent. "Owen has worked hard this offseason with a swing coach, and his swing looks a lot better so I'm excited about what he will do for us this season."
The Wolves have five incoming freshmen including two new internationals that Coach Kent says will bring a lot of strength to the team.
"Leopold Griesheimer (Sankt Leon-Rot, Germany) and Ben Kumlehn (Schwetzingen, Germany) have been putting up good numbers throughout the summer in tournaments that they have played," said Kent. "Gabe Gennaro (Brookhaven), Tim Hutto (Meadville), and Colton Touchstone (Petal) have a lot of experience playing with their high schools and I think we will see those scores translate over this season for them."
Kent said this team has good chemistry and that helps in getting their expectations high for the season.
"The guys have been playing golf together since they all got here and they seem to be getting along really well as a team and I have heard some good scores coming from them so I like the possibilities of what we can do," stated Kent. "I think we have the potential to be a good bit better last year and be more consistent especially if we stay healthy and can build upon a great foundation that is being laid right now."
"I think if we go out and execute and mentally show up when it counts then we can get back to where we want to be as a team," added Kent. "I think the guys might get tired of hearing about having a short-term memory, but if our guys believe in themselves and that they can play with anyone else in this league then we will be successful."
Kent said that success for his group comes down to a few things.
"In the grand scheme of things, I want the guys to come here and have a good time competing while they're here and focus on getting their degree," said Kent. "In the past, we have really excelled in the classroom. At the same time, I want them to grow as individuals and as a team and to be right in the running for a conference championship."
The Wolves kickoff the season at the Ranger Classic at Kirkwood National in Holly Springs on August 25 and 26.
