Co-Lin Announces Brett Rutland as Golf Head Coach
WESSON - The Copiah-Lincoln Community College athletic department is pleased to announce the hiring of Brett Rutland as the new golf head coach.
Rutland returns to his alma mater after serving as the varsity girls basketball coach and head golf coach at Bowling Green School since August of 2025. Prior to his time at Bowling Green, Rutland was the head basketball coach at Centreville Academy from 2022 through 2025. He also served as Dean of Students and varsity boys basketball coach from 2021-2022 at Hillcrest Christian School after spending nine years as the varsity assistant and junior varsity head coach at Columbia Academy from 2012-2021.
"We are very excited to have Brett back with us," stated Co-Lin Athletic Director Bryan Nobile. "He was a student athlete here and has coached on many levels over the last 15 years."
The Jayess native graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor of Arts in history after completing his time at Co-Lin. During his coaching career, Rutland has garnered multiple accomplishments including district and regional championships in golf at Columbia Academy and Bowling Green School. Rutland has also been a seven-time South State Champion in girls and boys basketball during his time at Columbia Academy and Hillcrest Christian and won a state championship at Columbia Academy.
"Coach Rutland brings a fresh, highly motivating energy that will resonate with recruits," added Nobile. "He doesn't just manage a roster; he invests heavily in individual student-athlete growth on and off the course."
