HANCEVILLE, Ala. – The Co-Lin Men's Soccer team took to the road to face off against Wallace State – Hanceville, on Tuesday, August 26. The Wolves beat the Lions, 2-0, to grab a win in their season opener.
The Wolves and Lions traded attacks and counters throughout the majority of the first half, but the Wolves got the first goal of the match as Aden Lowry (Pearl) sent a through ball down the pitch to Hudson McIntyre (Brandon) who then beat the Lions keeper to get the goal and give the Wolves a 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute. That lead held for the Wolves as the defensive backline kept the Lions attack at bay for the remainder of the first half.
McIntyre then doubled the lead early in the second half with his second goal of the match in the 53rd minute with an assist from Jeffrey Roth (Flowood) making the score, 2-0. The Wolves had to finish the match playing with nine men on the pitch as two members of the squad received red cards, but the remaining members of the squad were up to the task as they kept the shutout intact and earned the 2-0 victory.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jaime Duran (Madison) saved all ten shots on goal he faced throughout the match.
Co-Lin is now 1-0-0 on the season and returns to action with a road match against Calhoun on Wednesday, September 3. Kickoff between the Wolves and the Warhawks is set for 6 p.m., in Decatur, Alabama.
