Wolves Shutout Lions for first MACCC Win

SCOOBA – The Co-Lin Men's Soccer team hit the road to continue MACCC play while facing off against East Mississippi on Friday, September 19. The Wolves used early offense and solid defense to shutout the Lions and earn a 1-0 clean sheet victory.

The lone goal of the match came as Erick Martinez (Clinton) beat the Lions keeper with an assist from Finley Sugg (Southampton) in the 26th minute. The Wolves continued to have opportunities to add on to their lead throughout the first half, but the Lions blocked shot after shot for the Wolves while the lead held at 1-0 at the end of play.

In the second half, once again the Wolves had more scoring opportunities, but the Lions once again found ways to block shot after shot attempt. The Wolves defense matched the Lions and didn't allow many shots on goal as they secured the 1-0 victory.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jaime Duran saved all six shots on goal faced throughout the match with four of the six saves coming in the first half.

Co-Lin improves to 3-1-1 overall and 1-0-1 in MACCC play and will return to action hosting Hinds on Tuesday, September 23. Kickoff between the Wolves and the No. 10 Eagles is set for 7:30 p.m., at Stone Stadium in Wesson.
