Co-Lin finishes strong at NJCAA National Tournament
PLANO, Texas – The Co-Lin men's tennis team finished the season with a strong showing at the National Junior College Athletic Association's (NJCAA) Division 1 Men's Tennis Championship held at Collin College in Plano, Texas.
Rain forced matches to be postponed, rescheduled and moved to indoor courts at Southern Methodist University.
The team earned four wins in day 1 of the tournament. Winners included Julian Toloza No. 1 singles, Julian Parada at No. 2. The No. 1 doubles team of Toloza/Parada the team of Skyler Rasberry/John Clyde Ready.
Co-Lin's Lawson Pearson lost to Nico Zumba of Iowa Central 8-1 in the semifinals of the consolation bracket at No. 4 singles. Teammate John Clyde Ready also made it to the consolation bracket semifinals at No. 5 singles. He was defeated by Gage Anderson of Wallace State 8-0.
After day four of the tournament, the Wolves were tied for 18th with East Central, Itawamba and Meridian. Jones College led the Mississippi contingent in 16th, while Mississippi Gulf Coast finished in 17th place. There were 27 teams in this year's tournament.
