Meggs Signs with Senior College
WESSON – The Co-Lin Softball team recently celebrated several of their sophomores signing with senior colleges. One of those sophomores was Josie Meggs who will continue her career at Delta State University.
Meggs, a Kosciusko native, played in all 52 games for the Lady Wolves this season primarily as the third baseman and was a key component to the Lady Wolves successful 2022 season both offensively and defensively. At the plate, Meggs had 41 hits in 114 at-bats equaling a .360 batting average, while also having an on-base percentage of .464 and a .482 slugging percentage. She was also second on the team in doubles with nine along with one triple, one home run, and 23 RBIs while also having the fourth-most stolen bases at 22 and carried a .919 fielding percentage throughout the season.
"Josie is a super tough and passionate player and she brought that for us every day in practice and games," said Co-Lin head coach Meleah Howard. "Coaching players like Josie is what makes me love my job…I will miss coaching her and hope to see her with lots of success in the future."
The Lady Wolves finished the 2022 season with a 42-10 overall record, setting a single season record for wins, while also winning the first conference championship since 2009 and earned the number one ranking in the NJCAA Division II Softball poll for the first time in program history.
