Seven Lady Wolves Earn Conference Honors
JACKSON – The Mississippi Association of Community College Conference (MACCC) recently announced the All-MACCC softball honors and the Lady Wolves had seven members earn spots on the lists. Madison Moak and Abby Grace Richardson earned First Team honors while Cara Biswell, Taylor Efferson, and Kinley Ainsworth nabbed Second Team honors with Emeri Warren and Zykeria Cole grabbing Honorable Mention honors for the Lady Wolves.
Madison Moak (Brookhaven) led the Lady Wolves and the MACCC in batting average this season at .494 while also leading the team in hits at 79 which is second-most in the MACCC. The University of Southern Mississippi signee is second on the team in doubles, home runs, and RBIs at 17, 13, and 51 respectively while leading the team in triples with nine and stolen bases at 17. She also has the second highest on-base percentage on the team at .594 and slugging percentage at .956 while posting a perfect fielding percentage with no errors on 59 defensive chances posting 56 putouts and three assists and was part of one double play while playing centerfield. Moak also broke the single season and career hits records (142) this season.
Abby Grace Richardson (Brookhaven) was second on the Lady Wolves and the MACCC in batting average this season at .470. Her team-leading 20 home runs is second in the MACCC while her team high 60 RBIs is third in the MACCC, and she is second on the Lady Wolves in stolen bases with 14. She leads the team and the MACCC in on-base percentage and slugging percentage at .642 and 1.085 respectively. Her team and conference leading 55 walks is second in the NJCAA. This season, the Mississippi State University signee has broken the career RBI and home run records as well as the single season and career walks records in addition to holding the single season home run and RBI records from her freshman year. She has .942 fielding percentage with nine errors on 154 defensive chances with 93 putouts and 52 assists while being part of seven double plays.
Cara Biswell (Brandon) led the Lady Wolves pitching staff in appearances (28), starts (25), and wins with 19 while compiling a 19-4 overall record and led the team in saves with two which was tied for third in the MACCC. Her 19 wins is tied for third-most in the MACCC. Her 2.39 earned run average was fifth in the MACCC while leading the Lady Wolves in innings pitched at 135 and strikeouts at 124. Biswell threw 14 complete games and four shutouts this season while posting a whip of 1.18, a batting average against of .217, and a perfect fielding percentage making seven putouts with 26 assists on 33 total defensive chances.
Taylor Efferson (Holden, LA) was the primary designated hitter for the Lady Wolves as was third on the team in home runs with seven. She also had one of the top batting averages on the team at .351 while also having the fourth most doubles and RBIs on the team at six and 38 respectively. Efferson was also Top-5 on the Lady Wolves in on-base percentage at .456 and slugging percentage at .638, and had 17 runs scored during the season.
Kinley Ainsworth (Brandon) was the primary catcher for the Lady Wolves and had 51 hits on the season with the third-most doubles at 10. Ainsworth also had one triple, two home runs, and 32 RBIs with the RBI number being the fifth-most on the team. She carried a .359 batting average, a 390 on-base percentage, and a .486 slugging percentage throughout the season while also having the third-most stolen bases with nine. She posted a .995 fielding percentage with just one error in 222 defensive chances with a team-leading 212 putouts and nine assists and was part of two double plays during the season.
Emeri Warren (Sebastopol) split time between right and left field throughout the season with 40 hits. Her .385 batting average, .425 on-base percentage, and .433 slugging percentage find her amongst the top offensive numbers on the team. She hit five doubles this season and has 24 RBIs and runs scored along with four stolen bases. Defensively she has a .917 fielding percentage with 33 putouts and three errors in 36 total chances.
Zykeria Cole (Magee) was the primary first baseman for the Lady Wolves and led the team in doubles with 18. Zykeria was third on the team in RBIs with 41 and fourth in home runs with five while also accounting for 38 runs scored. She carried a .362 batting average, .404 on-base percentage, and .601 slugging percentage throughout the season while also posting a .964 fielding percentage on her team-leading 224 total defensive chances with 194 putouts, 22 assists, and eight errors.
The Lady Wolves currently have a 42-5 overall record and 26-2 in MACCC play capturing their first MACCC regular season championship in program history! The Lady Wolves have also earned a berth in the NJCAA Division II World Series at Tyger River Park in Spartanburg, South Carolina from May 20-25 where they will be the number two overall seed and defend their national championship!
