WESSON – The Co-Lin Softball team hosted Baton Rouge on Wednesday, February 18 to open the home portion of the 2026 season. The Lady Wolves swept the Lady Bears taking game one, 11-1, and game two 8-0.
GAME ONE
After a scoreless top of the first, the Lady Wolves exploded for six runs in the bottom half as Brelie Phillips (Conehatta) hit a leadoff double, Ayari VanBlaircom (Daphne, AL) was hit-by-pitch, and Annie Poole (Brookhaven) singled to load the bases with no outs. Phillips was then forced out at home as Emilie Williams (Summit) reached on a fielder's choice while VanBlaircom and Poole then scored on a two-RBI single by Brooklyn Reine (Kentwood, LA) to give the Lady Wolves a 2-0 lead. Morgan Chisolm (Madison) then singled while Stella Roberts (Raymond) drew a walk scoring Williams and increasing the lead to 3-0. Abby Burnette then doubled the scored with a three-RBI bases clearing double scoring Reine, Chisolm, and Roberts and making the score, 6-0.
The final five runs for the Lady Wolves came in the bottom of the third as Reine hit a leadoff single and then scored on an RBI-double by Chisolm while Roberts followed with a single to put two runners on with no outs. Burnette then hit an RBI-single scoring Chisolm while Roberts then scored as Noelle Laiche (Gonzales, LA) reached on an error making the score, 9-0. Later in the inning, Burnette and Laiche scored on a two-RBI double by Poole increasing the lead to 11-0.
The lone run for the Lady Bears came in the top of the fifth on an error by the Lady Wolves, but the inning was ended after a fielder's choice and a pop out to secure the 11-1.
The Lady Wolves totaled 11 hits as Annie Poole, Brooklyn Reine, Morgan Chisolm, and Abby Burnette had two hits apiece while Brelie Phillips, Stella Roberts, and Anna Grace Rice (Greenwood) had one hit each. Burnette led the Lady Wolves in RBIs with four while Poole and Reine had two RBIs apiece with Chisolm, Roberts, and Noelle Laiche adding one RBI each.
Ava Browder (Picayune) got the start for the Lady Wolves and improved to 3-1 overall with three innings pitched allowing one hit with two walks and one strikeout. Lily Crum (Vidalia, LA) pitched two innings of relief allowing one unearned run with two walks and two strikeouts.
GAME TWO
The Lady Wolves started their scoring with a single run in the bottom of the first as Ayari VanBlaircom smashed a 2-1 pitch over the fence in left field for a solo home run to take a 1-0 lead. The Lady Wolves added a single run in the bottom of the fourth as Brooklyn Reine hit a leadoff single and later scored on an RBI-double by Stella Roberts increasing the lead to 2-0.
The Lady Wolves added three runs in the bottom of the fifth as Brelie Phillips hit a leadoff single to get the offense started. Later in the inning, Emilie Williams hit a single to put two runners on with two outs. Reine then crushed a 2-0 pitch over the fence in left field for a three-run home run making the score, 5-0.
The final three runs came in the bottom of the sixth as Roberts and Ahlyana Houston (Summit) drew back-to-back walks to start the inning while a bunt single by Phillips loaded the bases for the Lady Wolves. VanBlaircom then delivered a two-RBI double scoring Roberts and Houston pushing the lead to 7-0 while Annie Poole then reached on a fielder's choice as Phillips was forced out at home. Later in the inning, Reine drew a walk to load the bases with two outs. Cadence Sheppard (Hattiesbur) then earned the walk-off RBI as she drew a walk scoring VanBlaircom and securing the game two win and sweep for the Lady Wolves.
The Lady Wolves totaled nine hits as Brelie Phillips, Ayari VanBlaircom, and Brooklyn Reine had two hits apiece while Emilie Williams, Morgan Chisolm, and Stella Roberts had one hit each. VanBlaircom and Reine led the Lady Wolves in RBIs with three each while Roberts and Cadence Sheppard added one RBI each.
Addison Lindley (Madison) got the start and improved to 4-0 with the complete game shutout allowing four hits with one walk and five strikeouts.
Co-Lin is now 9-1 overall and will return to action with three games at the JUCO Extravaganza at Choccolocco Park in Oxford. The Lady Wolves will face off against two Top 25 opponents starting with No.5 Des Moines Area on Friday, February 20 at 4 p.m., and then will face Northwest Shoals on Saturday, February 21, at Noon followed by No. 17 North Iowa Area at 2 p.m.
