Lady Wolves Blitz Lady Stars

EL DORADO, Ark. – The Co-Lin Women's Basketball team ended their week with a road game against South Arkansas on Thursday, November 21. The Lady Wolves dominated the matchup en route to a 77-43 victory over the Lady Stars.

"This was a great team win," stated Co-Lin head coach Dr. Britta Stephens. "Our defense was outstanding. South Arkansas is a team that shoots the three-point shot extremely well, and we were able to force them into taking a lot of tough twos, which was one of our keys to victory in this game. Early on, we settled for too many quick three-point shots. Once the ball started going inside out, then we began knocking down three-point shots."

The Lady Stars outscored the Lady Wolves in the first quarter, 13-11, to hold a lead by that margin at the end of play. The Lady Wolves owned the rest of the game starting in the second half as they outscored the Lady Stars, 23-7, to hold a 34-20 lead as the teams entered the locker rooms at halftime.

The Lady Wolves piled on another 19 points to their lead in the third quarter as they held the Lady Stars to seven points making the score 53-27. The Lady Wolves then outscored the Lady Stars, 24-16, in the fourth quarter to secure the 77-43 victory.

Angel Wilkinson (Brookhaven) had a huge game for the Lady Wolves as she posted a double-double performance of 32 points and 12 rebounds while Eymani Key (Lafayette, LA) had 12 points with five rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Jamyria Robinson (St. Martin), Kamiayah Pruitt (Pass Christian), Kylinn Bell (Choctaw), and Kiersten Haynes (Clinton) had six points apiece while Robinson had another huge rebound game with 17 while Pruitt had ten.

"Cookie Wilkinson shot the ball extremely well tonight, especially in transition," added Stephens. "Cookie and Kylinn Bell are sneaky defenders who were able to get several steals that lead to easy baskets, which sparked our offense. All season, we have talked about taking our season game by game and working to go undefeated each week. This week, we were able to go 3-0, so we are hoping to keep that mentality moving forward."

Zariah Hatten (Taylorsville) and Tyra Johnson (Morton) had four points each while Maddison Mitchell (Baton Rouge, LA) had one to round out the scoring for the Lady Wolves.

Co-Lin is now 6-3 overall and will return to action on the road against Delgado on Wednesday, December 4. Tip-off between the Lady Wolves and the Lady Dolphins is set for 5:30 p.m., in New Orleans.
