Lady Wolves and Lady Eagles Play to a Draw

RAYMOND- The Co-Lin Women's Soccer team faced off against Hinds in a road match on Friday, October 8. The Lady Wolves and Lady Eagles played 110 minutes of soccer, but the match resulted in a 2-2 draw.

The Lady Eagles got on the board first with a goal in the second minute taking an early 1-0 lead. However, the Lady Wolves tied the game in the 12th minute as freshman forward Jane Claire Newman (Caledonia) found the back of the net with an assist from freshman defender Riely Laird (Clinton) making the score 1-1. The score held throughout the remainder of the first half.

The match remained scoreless until late in the second half as sophomore forward Taylor Ford (Florence) scored with an assist from Alana Dear (Madison) in the 87th minute giving the Lady Wolves a 2-1 lead. The Lady Eagles tied the game once again with a goal also scored in the 87th minute and the game would be sent into overtime finishing regulation tied, 2-2.

Despite a furious attack, the Lady Wolves could not find a winning goal while keeping the Lady Eagles from getting a shot in both overtime periods resulting in a draw for the match.

Sophomore goalkeeper Alexandra Moon (Poynton with Worth, England) saved seven of nine shots on goal throughout the match.

The Lady Wolves are now 2-8-1 overall and 1-4-0 in South Division play and will start their second round of South Division play with a match against Southwest Mississippi on Tuesday, October 12. The action on the pitch will kickoff at Noon at H.L. Stone Stadium.
