Two Lady Wolves Earn Postseason Honors
JACKSON - The Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) released the Women's Soccer All-Conference and All-Region Honorees list on Wednesday, November 9. The Lady Wolves have two members of the team named to the All-Conference list with one member also earning a spot on the All-Region Team.
Freshman forward Charlie Cooper (Corby, England) has been named to the First Team All-Conference list and earned a place on the All-Region team while sophomore goalkeeper Alex Moon (Poynton with Worth, England) has been named Second Team All-Conference.
Charlie Cooper had a breakout freshman year for the Lady Wolves pacing the attack for the team as she started and played in 14 games. Cooper led the team in goals with 13 and was third on the team in assist with three for a team-leading 29 overall points. She also finished the season with a shot on-goal percentage of 67.9 with 36 of 53 shots on-target.
"Charlie has come in as a freshman and proved to everyone why she is one of the most clinical and prolific goal scorers in the conference," said Co-Lin head coach Tom Cosgrave. "Her ability to beat players 1v1 and finish is unbelievable. Scoring 13 goals in 14 games in the USA is remarkable. She has a bright future ahead of her."
Alex Moon returned to Co-Lin for a third year after having a superb sophomore season in 2021 that saw her perform as one of the best goalies in the nation and she delivered an even better season in 2022 for the Lady Wolves as she played in all 17 games with 16 starts. Moon played 1385 minutes across all contests and finished the season allowing less than one goal on average with a goals against average of 0.97 allowing 15 goals on 139 shots faced. Moon finished with 124 saves and an 89.2 save percentage. Alex also earned MACCC Goalie of the Week honors twice and NJCAA DII Goalie of the Week honors once. Over the last two seasons, Alex has totaled 289 saves and an 84.5 save percentage.
"Alex has been phenomenal for us the last three season. She is an unbelievable shot stopper, and I am so proud that she finally got the recognition she deserves," stated Cosgrave. She has got a very bright future ahead of her and I'm excited to see her continue to grow and develop at the next level."
The Lady Wolves finished the 2022 regular season with the best regular season wins mark in program history at 10-4-3 overall and 5-3-2 in conference play. Additionally, the Lady Wolves were ranked for the first time in program history hitting No. 20 in the NJCAA DII Women's Soccer polls and qualified for postseason play also for the first time in program history.
