Lady Wolves Blitz Lady Lions for First MACCC Win

SCOOBA – The Co-Lin Women's Soccer team took to the road to face off against East Mississippi to continue MACCC play on Friday, September 19. The Lady Wolves blanked the Lady Lions, 3-0, for their first win in conference play.

The Lady Wolves wasted little time in getting on the board as Jess Abrantes (Peterborough, England) netted her first goal of the season with an assist from Rylee Raymond (Florence) in the eighth minute to take a 1-0 lead. Ten minutes later, Abrantes scored her second goal of the season with an assist from Kristina Seymour (Starkville) increasing the lead to 2-0. That lead held throughout the remainder of the first half.

The final goal of the match came in the 66th minute as Nimue Cutrer (St. Martin) netted her first goal of the season with an assist from Abrantes to give the Lady Wolves a 3-0 lead. The defense for the Lady Wolves limited the scoring chances for the Lady Lions for the remainder of the match to seal the 3-0 victory.

Sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Conway (Huddersfield, England) saved all four shots on goal throughout the match.

Co-Lin improves to 3-1-1 overall and 1-0-1 in MACCC play and will return to action hosting Hinds on Tuesday, September 23. Kickoff between the Wolves and the Lady Eagles is set for 5:30 p.m., at Stone Stadium in Wesson.
